Board Member

Ms. Deborah R. Duncan Hurdle, from San Antonio, Texas, has lived in Austin for over four decades. She is an alumna of Huston-Tillotson University and The University of Texas at Austin, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Science in Social Work. A Licensed Master Social Worker, she works as a Program Coordinator at the City of Austin’s Public Health Department, with experience in public health, gerontology, community planning, mental health, and HIV/AIDS prevention.

Ms. Duncan Hurdle serves the Austin Travis County area, focusing on community outreach, housing crisis assistance, technical support, and health promotion for underserved populations. She is the former President and current Secretary of Anderson Community Development Corporation and actively participates in non-profits, faith-based communities, and St. James Missionary Baptist Church as the Health Ministry Manager and Community Biblical Institute Instructor.

Additionally, she is involved with St. John Community Faith Garden, the East Austin Garden Club, and visits the sick and shut-in individuals. A breast cancer survivor, she founded the Breast Cancer Advocacy Awareness Outreach Center in East Austin and is a past President of Sisters Network Austin Affiliate Chapter. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, quilting, the arts, international travel, and music.
